His name is more then just a word

You can look up all the different names used in reference to God, but what do they mean? Do they contain wisdom? How do I use them? Should I use them?

I believe there is great power in his names, its who he is. I believe we should study his names, get to know him. who is he? What can he do? What can I ask him for? We know our worldly families , and can answer almost any question asked about them. God is no different. We should know him even better. We know how the computer works what button moves what. Lets find out what God likes, What makes him move, what makes our Father happy. I use all these names in prayer whether for healing, peace, wisdom, or discernment,
  • Elohim- creator (Genesis 1;1) El is a single title that appears about 250 times in the Bible. It means strength.

He created us in his image Genesis 1:27. He is in control not us He is the artist with the pen able to create anything he wants, and no one can erase that.

  • Adonai- Lord-Master or possessor (Exodus 13:17)
He is the owner of all able to change our hearts if we let him.
  • El Shaddai-Almighty, all-powerful (Genesis 17:1-2)
He is able to do more then our eyes can contain. By faith not by sight.
  • Tzur-The rock (Deut. 32-4)
We can stand upon the solid rock-firm foundation knowing He is the same today, yesturday, and tomorrow. He will never change he is who he is.
  • Jehovah (YHVH) -The Lord used over 6,000 times in scripture (Genesis 2:4)

  • Jehovah Rophe- Lord who heals (Exodus 17:15)
He will make limbs grow, the blind will see, we will see great miracles in his name, and only in his name. He can heal our hearts from past or present hurts.
  • Jehovah Jireh-The Lord who provides (Genesis 22:14)
He will provide everything we need, just remember 1 Cor. 10:13 He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, He will also provide away out so you can stand up under it.
When you need wisdom it will be there. Stay in the word prepare yourselves.
  • Jehovah Shalom- Lord of peace (Judges 6:24)
When ever we are not at peace in our hearts we can call out to him in prayer and we shall have peace. He said cast your burdens upon me, Psalm 55:22
  • Jehovah Rohi- My shepherd (Psalm 23:1)
This name gives me peace because he will never leave us just like a shepherd will never leave his sheep. If we get lost he will find us and bring us home.
